SunEpoxy 100 Overview

The SunEpoxy 100 coating was designed specifically for floors.  SunEpoxy 100 has low viscosity for penetration and self-leveling. It is 100% solid for maximum build and durability, and it is often used in combination with vinyl color flakes or quartz, which are spread into the epoxy for added durability and as a filler.  All of these systems provide a seamless, monolithic, non-staining flooring system that make them perfect for tough, hard to handle applications.  If a broadcast aggregate is used, the ideal choices are the standard 20 – 30 mesh silica, or Monterey type sand or decorative color quartz. To get the look of granite or terrazzo, the choice is vinyl color chips, which come in a range of colors and sizes and range from 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch, or 1/2 inch. A double broadcast floor is the typical system employed for industrial plants and food processing areas.  The double broadcast system provides a somewhat smooth and uniform appearance which allows for easy cleanup and easy movement of rolling carts and materials.  Surface textures can also be varied, anywhere from aggressive to smooth, allowing for a range of slip-resistant finishes for wet areas such as food preparation areas and showers.   A smoother surface more like an “orange peel” finish provides an easy to mop surface texture ideal for offices, hallways or laboratories.

Features and benefits:

  • Seamless, without any grout lines or grooves
  • Minimal odor
  • Low volatile organic compounds (VOC)
  • Can hold up to a wide range of elements including grease, oils, brake fluid, slats fats and even red wine!
  • Wide range of chemical resistance, abrasion resistance and impact resistance
  • Wide array of economical resinous flooring options

Where to use it:  SunEpoxy finishes can be varied. For wet areas such as showers and food preparation areas, it can be finished to be aggressively slip-resistant. For settings such as offices, hallways or laboratories, it can be finished to an “orange peel” texture.
The addition of SunFlek, which are quartz beads, or SunChips, which are solid or multi-colored vinyl acrylic paint chips, will enhance the aesthetics and texture of these dynamic concrete coating solutions.

How it’s done:  A brush or roller can be used to apply all coats of SunEpoxy. After applying the first bond coat, an optional seeding of chips or quartz beads can be added. This ensures a slip resistant but also decorative and seamless floor solution. Effects are encased with a second top-coat application.
